Well, folks, it turns out that everyone is going through sh*t - shocker! And personally, for the first time in what has felt like a long time, I’m starting to feel inspired, driven, and motivated. I hope that this little corner of my internet reaches out to you and makes you feel the same way.
We’re all in this together. Without further adieu, here’s what I’ve been up to lately.
FOOD
I’ve been working on different things when I get home from nannying, including this blog, job interviews, or working out that I’ve honestly not had much time to cook at night. I did get around to cooking one meal for the house - Defined Dish’s Chicken Piccata. I’m a huge fan of Alex and love that she’s a fellow Texas girl. You can purchase her book here.
READING
I shared last week that I’m a weekend print edition subscriber of the Times, and it’s my absolute favorite thing to do on Sundays. Oddly enough, my paper didn’t show up on my driveway on Sunday morning and instead showed up more like late afternoon. So, I was playing catch up all week to make sure I got through everything. This particular article about music critic Anthony Fantano caught my attention (The Only Music Critic Who Matters (if You’re Under 25)) and honestly made me feel old because I had no idea who this guy was. If you’re a music fan, I recommend giving it a read.
I shared I went through a breakup recently. Hence, anything dating and love related is not something I can necessarily relate to at the moment, but Repeller’s article on three older women sharing their trials with sex and love was extremely interesting. The title alone caught my attention, obviously - “We Slept With Hundreds of People”: 3 Older Women on Sex and Pleasure”.
WATCHING
Fargo season 4 is out, and I was such a fan of the first season that I decided to give this next season a whirl. Gangster theme in the 1950s, based on real events - it definitely caught my attention.
Also, the virtual ACL show started last night - tune in with me!
LISTENING
I have a few friends that are big fans of Washed Media boys’ podcasts that I tuned into their Sunday Scaries podcast with Will deFries and was hooked immediately. If you’re reading this and know that you identify with my “aesthetic” or style, then I know you’ll be a fan. His Instagram alone gets me every time.
EYEING
I saw a meme recently that said if the algorithm gets me, I know the purchase was meant to be. And, it got me, you guys.
These cowboy-inspired boots from Joie are in my cart. Should I do it?
TRYING
Giving the law of attraction a whirl. In other words, allowing all my positive thoughts to turn into reality, eventually. I’m over the gloom and doom hump and want to only work on good things from here on out. Who’s with me?
